The road will take almost the entire day, and to have enough energy to cross the mountain pass, we'll stop for lunch at a Tushetian grandmother's house. We'll enjoy a hearty meal and unlimited servings of delicious aromatic homemade liqueurs. It will be very tasty and filling. We'll tour her ancient house, the wine cellar with its sanctuary, and see her carpets and other wool products that she weaves, knits, and felts from the wool of her own sheep. Bebo makes the dye for the wool herself from berries and plant leaves.

After lunch, we face a climb up the winding road to the Abano Pass (2900 m) with stops at waterfalls, springs, and the best viewpoints. We'll observe how the climate zones change. At the pass it's very cold—bring a jacket and pants as temperatures can be around +6-10°C, quite refreshing after Tbilisi's heat. There's a small café where you can get coffee to go and a basic toilet facility. We'll have a small picnic while you photograph the stunning views between passing clouds.

Our comfortable guesthouse is located in the Upper Omalo area (not to be confused with the village of the same name in Pankisi). In the evening, dinner awaits us with Kakheti wine.

August 1, Saturday

Today we travel through the region from morning to evening. In the morning we'll explore the Diklo Fortress, located 1.5 km from a Dagestani village, and the village of Shenako with almost the only Orthodox church in this region—this settlement is known as the birthplace of Valiko Mizandari from the film "Mimino." We'll climb the once-formidable fortress and see snow-capped mountain peaks and the Alazani River gorge.

Then we'll move to Pirikiti Tusheti to the village of Dartlo. This region has preserved more ancient towers; we'll visit the historic jury court and walk among houses built from slate.

Lunch at a local home where we'll be served local khinkali and treated to local ritual beer.

August 2, Sunday

A day of rest in nature, free from vehicles.

Time to stretch your legs and go hiking; we might spot Caucasian bezoar goats. The surrounding forests have plenty of mushrooms and berries—mushroom hunting enthusiasts should bring containers, while others can stroll through blueberry and strawberry patches. Locals recommend collecting mountain tea herb beg kondari, which is very delicious. Also this day, horseback riding is possible for an additional fee if we have enough participants. In the evening we'll climb the neighboring hill with Keselo Fortress—the perfect place to watch the sunset.

August 3, Monday

Before we leave, we still have much to do—we'll visit Bochorma, Europe's highest mountain village. We'll see the village of Dochu, which sits on a cliff right above an abyss. Before departure we'll explore the forest one more time and visit another viewpoint.

We depart toward Tbilisi and will arrive in the city around 21-22.

We await high towers, delicious food, local specialties, mountain peaks, fresh air, and starry skies
